About the role

Atherton Mechanical Services is seeking a skilled Exhaust Fitter / Welder / Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis in Atherton, QLD. This is a hands-on position that combines welding expertise with mechanical knowledge to deliver high-quality exhaust system installations, repairs, and fabrication work. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our reputation for excellence in the trades and services sector, working on a variety of vehicles, machinery and custom cars. This role offers the opportunity to utilise your technical skills in a agile workshop environment where precision and craftsmanship are highly valued.

Key responsibilities

- Install, repair, and replace exhaust systems on vehicles and machinery, ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards

- Perform welding operations using various techniques to fabricate and repair exhaust components and other metal structures

- Diagnose mechanical issues and carry out repairs to engines and associated systems

- Measure, cut, and shape exhaust piping and components to customer specifications

- Conduct quality inspections of completed work to ensure durability and compliance with relevant standards

- Maintain workshop equipment, tools, and work areas in a safe and organised manner

- Liaise with customers to understand their requirements and provide professional advice on exhaust solutions

- Follow all health and safety protocols and statutory requirements in the workplace

- Keep accurate records of work completed and materials used

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as an exhaust fitter, welder, or mechanic, preferably in automotive or industrial settings

- Strong welding skills with proficiency in MIG, TIG, and oxy-acetylene welding techniques

- Solid mechanical knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair vehicle and machinery issues

- Trade qualification or certification in welding, automotive mechanics, or a related field

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications





- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team

- Valid driver's licence and reliability in meeting deadlines

- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in workshop and mechanical environments

- Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and training
