About the Role
As a Facilities Officer, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day maintenance and repair needs across an allocated portfolio of Council-owned and managed facilities.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced facilities, building, or trade skilled who enjoys variety, autonomy, and making a visible difference to community spaces. With two positions available — a 2-year fixed term contract and a permanent full-time role — there's flexibility to suit candidates at different career stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and respond to day-to-day maintenance and repair requests across an allocated portfolio of Council facilities
- Conduct regular building inspections to identify maintenance, compliance, and safety issues
- Coordinate and supervise external contractors and trades, ensuring quality workmanship and value for money
- Raise, track, and close out work orders through Council's maintenance management system
- Ensure all facilities meet relevant building codes, WHS,
and compliance standards
- Assist with planning and delivery of preventative and programmed maintenance works
- Manage minor works and repairs within delegated budget and authority
- Liaise with facility users, community groups, and internal stakeholders on maintenance matters
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, contractor performance, and asset condition
- Respond to urgent and after-hours facility issues as required
Essential Criteria
- Vocational qualification Cert IV or above in Facilities Management, Building and Construction, or a related field, or trade qualification.
- 5 years’ experience in facilities maintenance or building operations, or in-job experience with maintenance tasks e.g. basic plumbing, electrical work, HVAC systems etc.
- Good working knowledge of repairs and maintenance including HVAC, electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Good working knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
- Strong organization skills and the ability to plan for and meet deadlines.
- Sound written and high-level communication skills.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation.
- Minimum intermediate level computer literacy across Microsoft suite and databases.
- Commitment to OH&S;, risk management, environmental protection and other ethical principles.
- Current Class C driver’s license.
- An understanding of and commitment to EEO
