About the role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Coordinator Civil Services (Cleansing, Waste & Verges) to join our Field Services team.
Reporting to the Team Leader Civil Maintenance, you will provide leadership and operational management across cleansing, waste and verge maintenance services. You will coordinate internal crews and contractors to deliver programmed and reactive maintenance activities while ensuring services are provided safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines operational planning, contractor management, customer service, workforce leadership and continuous improvement.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating cleansing, waste and verge maintenance programs across the city.
- Leading and managing operational teams and service delivery activities.
- Coordinating internal crews and contractors to undertake programmed and reactive maintenance works.
- Developing, implementing and monitoring work schedules and resource allocation.
- Managing verge maintenance contracts and supporting contract administration activities.
- Monitoring service delivery performance and reporting on key outcomes and operational metrics.
- Responding to customer requests and ensuring high levels of customer service.
- Providing technical advice and operational support within the service area.
- Assisting with tender development, specification preparation and contract management.
- Leading, coaching and developing staff to achieve service standards and operational objectives.
- Supporting WHS compliance through toolbox meetings, risk management and safe work practices.
- Contributing to service planning, budgeting and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Acting in the Team Leader role during approved periods of absence when required.
About you:
You are an experienced civil maintenance or service delivery professional with strong leadership skills and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes for the community.
You know how to coordinate teams, manage competing priorities and build positive working relationships with staff, contractors and customers. You are organised, practical and confident making operational decisions while maintaining a strong focus on safety, service quality and continuous improvement.
You will also have:
- Current Class C Driver's Licence.
- Diploma-level qualification in a relevant field, or substantial experience in a similar role.
- Certificate IV in Frontline Management.
- Robust technical knowledge relevant to civil maintenance services.
- Experience leading and developing operational teams.
- Experience coordinating contractors and managing service delivery contracts.
- Experience delivering civil maintenance services.
- High-level communication, stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
- Strong computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Office and business systems.
- Experience managing budgets, schedules and operational resources.
- Ability to interpret plans and specifications.
- Knowledge of Australian Standards relevant to civil infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Local Government operations and services (desirable).
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and Australian Standards (desirable).
- Experience leading teams through organisational change (desirable)
