About the role

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join Hunter Carers Ltd on a casual basis.

Our service has three homes based in Cardiff, NSW.

As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of our residents by assisting them with all areas of daily living activities, promoting independence and accessing the community in line with the NDIS SIL Practice Standards and person-centered practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide direct personal care and support to residents with disabilities, including assistance with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing and meal preparation

- Support residents in maintaining their independence and developing life skills through encouragement and practical assistance

- Accompany residents to appointments, social activities and community outings to promote social inclusion and engagement

- Build positive, trusting relationships with residents based on respect, dignity and understanding of their individual needs and preferences

- Assist residents with mobility and manual handling tasks in a protected and respectful manner





- Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to resident care and support provided

- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, carers and other team members to ensure consistent and coordinated support

- Respond to residents' requests and concerns promptly and professionally

- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, legislation and safeguarding requirements to ensure resident safety and wellbeing

- Participate in team meetings and training opportunities to maintain professional development and service quality

- Maintain confidentiality of organisational information and personal information relating to resident and staff

- Operate in a way that contributes to the workplace that is free from discrimination, gossiping, intimidation, harassment and bullying behaviour

- Act responsibly to protect the health and safety of yourself, others, and property, and take corrective action when hazards, risks, or incidents are identified.

- Adhere to Hunter Carers Code of Conduct and NDIS Practice Standards

What we're looking for

- A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care





- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with residents and colleagues

- Patience, empathy and respect for the dignity and independence of individuals with disabilities

- Physical capability to assist with manual handling and mobility support, or willingness to be trained in safe practices

- Ability to work shifts that involve weekends, morning and evening work, active night shifts and sleepover shifts

- NDIS Worker Check clearance, or willingness to obtain

- First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness obtain

- The ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team

- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to safeguarding and duty of care principles

- Certificate 111 in Individual Support and / or experience in disability support

- Current Drivers Licence
