At Cancer Council Queensland, our mission is simple – to ensure no Queenslander is left navigating cancer alone. About the role
As part of the Communications team, you will be responsible for developing and driving earned media and PR opportunities for Cancer Council Queensland. You will work with a range of stakeholders to develop storytelling opportunities, champion CCQ initiatives, translate complex information and produce content for PR campaigns, media opportunities and internal use, including key messaging, speech notes and owned channels.
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Journalism, PR and/or Communications
- Highly developed media relations skills with a demonstrated ability to source, pitch and secure earned media opportunities.
- Highly developed skills in writing, reviewing and editing content for a wide range of audiences
- Advanced experience in interviewing skills, particularly with sensitive topics and case studies.
- Experience in developing and managing detailed media materials including pitch plans, media contact lists and coverage reports.
- Extensive understanding of the current media landscape.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with experience effectively communicating with all levels through the organisation including peers, volunteers, and executive management.
- Experience in digital communications and computer literacy with MS Office Suite
- Experience with crisis communication or issues management and an understanding of current public affairs and issues, particularly in the health and not-for-profit space would be highly regarded, but not essential.
