The RCM is seeking expressions of interest from an experienced Contemporary Vocal Teacher to join our vocal teaching team. The successful applicant will have a solid understanding of contemporary vocal styles and techniques and the ability to engage students across a range of ages, abilities and musical interests.
Key responsibilities
- Contemporary popular singing and vocal styles across a range of genres
- Individual and, where appropriate, group vocal tuition
- Contemporary vocal technique, vocal care and healthy vocal production
- Song interpretation specific to different styles e.g. pop, jazz, folk, country, rock and musical theatre
- Stagecraft including microphone technique, stage presence and working with other musicians/backing tracks
- Preparation of students for concerts, performances and auditions
- Preparation of students for relevant examinations, where appropriate
- Supporting students interested in songwriting, events singing and gigs
- Participation in RCM performances, ensembles, workshops and other educational activities
About you
- Demonstrated experience teaching contemporary voice to students of varying ages and abilities
- Strong knowledge of contemporary vocal techniques, repertoire and performance practices
- Able to work effectively with children, young people and adult students
- Experience working within school or music education environments
- Committed to student-centred teaching and the development of individual musical interests and goals
- Prepared to work collaboratively as part of a professional teaching team and share knowledge and skills
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive, professional relationships with parents and carers
- Current NSW Working with Children Check or current application number
- Current Australian Driver Licence
