ROLE – Mechanical Design Engineer

SALARY - $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, dependent on experience

TYPE – Permanent

LOCATION – South Brisbane, QLD

My client designs and manufactures a range of bespoke heavy equipment and machinery. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Southern Brisbane on a permanent basis.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
At least 4 years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
Highly skilled with 3D CAD, ideally Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 etc.
Previous experience designing heavy equipment, machinery or industrial systems
Experience working with a variety of materials including structural steel, sheet metal, machined components and fabricated parts
Positive theoretical engineering knowledge of core principles, materials and tolerances
Robust practical skills with hand calculations, verification, validation, FEA, testing and prototyping
Experienced designing equipment from concept through to manufacture




Able to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgets
Able to maintain technical documentation and BOM entry
Able to work well individually as well as part of a team

The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
Using CAD for concept design and producing detailed technical drawings
Designing heavy equipment and machinery for manufacture
Managing the full design lifecycle from concept through to production
Collaborating with different departments to ensure the smooth delivery of projects
Liaising with manufacturing providers and suppliers
Being involved in final assembly and testing
Creating required documentation for design and project reports
Updating 3D models and drawings
Inputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs
Checking drawings for sign off
Working in a small, multi-disciplinary team on wide-ranging projects
