Key responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items to consistently high standards
Organise and complete daily food preparation
Monitor food quality throughout preparation, cooking and presentation
Maintain consistent portioning, plating and recipe execution
Assist with menu development and seasonal menu changes
Estimate ingredient requirements and assist with food ordering
Monitor stock rotation, storage, wastage and portion control
Ensure food-safety, hygiene and cleaning procedures are followed
Communicate effectively with kitchen, management and front-of-house teams
Assist with training and supporting junior kitchen employees
Work efficiently during busy breakfast and lunch services
About you
Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent qualification
At least two years of relevant commercial cookery experience
Experience in a busy café, restaurant or similarly high-volume kitchen
Strong breakfast and short-order cooking skills
Sound knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene requirements
Ability to manage preparation and service priorities
Consistent attention to presentation, portioning and food quality
Reliable,
organised and able to work effectively as part of a team
Available to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
