About the role

FGI Developments is seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Officer to join our team. This full time role is based in Cairns, QLD and will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees on construction sites. As a key member of our growing company, you will have the chance to make a direct impact on the safety culture and practices across our operations.

Key responsibilities
Developing, implementing and monitoring health and safety policies, procedures and management systems to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards
Conducting regular site inspections and audits in all states of operations to identify and address potential hazards and risks
Providing safety inductions, training and ongoing support to all site personnel
Investigating incidents and near misses, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Maintaining detailed records and documentation to support continuous improvement of safety performance
Collaborating with project managers, supervisors and workers to foster a positive safety culture and encourage protected behaviour's
Representing the company at relevant safety meetings, forums and industry events





About you
Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health and Safety or a related field
Minimum 3 years' experience as a Safety Officer or similar role in the construction industry
Demonstrated understanding of relevant work health and safety legislation, regulations and best practices
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate risks
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with all stakeholders
Proactive and solutions-focused approach to continuous improvement
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Current driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites in all states of Australia as required
