Role Description The Crane Technician / Mechanic role is an in office position based in Western Australia, Australia. This role involves performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on mobile cranes, as well as related diesel equipment used in mining and civil operations. Day-to-day tasks include conducting inspections, identifying mechanical and hydraulic faults, carrying out component change-outs, and completing scheduled and preventative maintenance to ensure safe and reliable crane operations.
The technician will respond to breakdowns, document all work completed, and follow company safety procedures and industry standards. Collaboration with supervisors, other technicians, and clients is required to plan work, minimise downtime, and maintain high-quality service.
Qualifications
Solid mechanical and hydraulic aptitude with experience servicing and repairing cranes or heavy diesel equipment.
Proficiency in fault-finding, diagnostics, and use of relevant tools, test equipment, and technical documentation.
Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, risk identification, and adherence to secure work procedures.
Ability to perform scheduled and preventative maintenance, including inspections, component change-outs, and detailed service reporting.
Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently in remote or site-based environments.
Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Duty Mechanic, Plant Mechanic, or equivalent) and valid driver’s license.
Previous experience in mining or civil construction environments and familiarity with Australian standards for lifting equipment is highly beneficial.
