Telecommunications/Network Engineer (Level 3)

Altitude is seeking a Telecommunications/Network Engineer (Level 3) for an established Australian telecommunications company specialising in fibre optic infrastructure and managed broadband networks.

The role will support engineering, deployment, commissioning and ongoing management of complex telecommunications infrastructure, including FTTP/FTTB fibre networks, GPON/XG-PON, OLTs, ONTs, active Ethernet, switching, routing, Wi-Fi and managed broadband services.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently on complex technical issues and providing practical solutions to customers, contractors, developers, project managers and internal team.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide advanced Level 3 technical support, diagnosing and resolving escalated network and customer issues
Design, review and troubleshoot fibre optic networks, including GPON, XG-PON and active Ethernet deployments
Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 network infrastructure, including VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NAT and routing
Work closely with project managers, developers and contractors, providing technical input across design, construction and commissioning stages




Maintain accurate technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations and fault investigation reports

Key Requirements:
Proven experience in telecommunications or network engineering, preferably at Level 3 or equivalent
Practical experience with GPON, XG-PON/XGS-PON and OLT/ONT technology
Robust understanding of IP networking and Layer 2/Layer 3 technologies
Experience configuring and troubleshooting switches and routers
Strong knowledge of VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NAT, routing and IP addressing
Current Australian driver licence, with the ability to work independently on complex technical problems
