Kinexus is a specialist defence and national security recruitment agency with over 25 years of working and specialising in the industry. We have partnered with a major ICT and defence system integration business who are actively deliverin a key training and simulation capability to the Royal Australian Navy, they are looking to expand the team with the addition of a permanent Simulator Support Engineer.

The Simulator Support Engineer will provide technical support and engineering services to software, hardware and ICT systems relating to defence training simulators. In this role, you will be involved in the development, integration and support of complex simulation systems, including in office support for uniformed Navy personnel.

In this role you will:
Diagnose and resolve faults across simulator software applications, control hardware, visual/audio systems, and networked ICT infrastructure to minimise training downtime.
Carry out preventative maintenance, software patching, configuration changes, and hardware servicing in line with maintenance schedules and vendor/manufacturer requirements.
Manage servers, networks, workstations, and data links underpinning simulator operation,



ensuring connectivity, cybersecurity compliance, and system availability.
Deliver on-call and in office technical assistance to instructors and operators, resolving issues in real time to keep training scenarios running.
Maintain technical records, fault logs, and configuration documentation, and escalate unresolved issues to engineering or vendor support teams as required.

What's needed from you:
Degree or diploma in electrical/mechatronics/software engineering or computer science, plus relevant certifications across ICT (RHCSA/RHCE, CCNA/CCNP, etc), equivalent experience will also be considered.
A minimum of NV1 security clearance is required for this role, applicants without clearance will not be considered.
System administration skills across Linux server environments, including server build, configuration and management.
Hardware and integration systems troubleshooting across simulator control, visual and audio hardware.
Programming skills with low-level programming languages.
