About the role
This is a hands-on role suited to a capable marine professional who enjoys customer interaction and vessel operations. The successful applicant will be responsible for safe vessel operation, crew leadership, guest experience, and supporting day-to-day operational requirements.
Key responsibilities
Operating domestic commercial vessels in accordance with AMSA regulations
Leading, mentoring, and training crew
Providing excellent customer service to passengers
Assisting with vessel preparation, maintenance, servicing, and cleaning
Supporting stores, pickups, and general operational tasks
Working weekends as required
About you
Master <24
MED 3
Sound mechanical knowledge, including marine diesel engines
Strong communication and leadership skills
Reliable, safety-focused, and skilled approach
Newcastle Harbour Certificate of Local Knowledge (desirable or willingness to obtain)
Small boat handling experience (desirable)
Experience operating twin-screw vessels (desirable)
