Rowing Australia are recruiting aData Scientist / Senior Data Scientistto lead and evolve their performance intelligence capability, applying data science, analytics and technology directly within anOlympic and Paralympic high-performance environment.
Embedded within Rowing Australia'sDaily Performance Environment, the successful candidate will develop the data systems, analytics and decision-support tools used to inform athlete and crew performance.
Working alongside coaches, sport science, sports medicine and performance staff, the role will translate complex datasets into practical insights while helping shape the organisation's widerHigh Performance Data Strategy.
Appointment atSenior Data Scientistlevel will include additional responsibility for strategic projects, partnerships, technical leadership and capability development.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of Rowing Australia'sHigh Performance Data Strategy.
Design and improve data systems, pipelines, dashboards and reporting tools.
Develop advanced analytics, statistical models andmachine-learning solutions.
Lead athlete and crew performance analysis, benchmarking and predictive modelling.
Translate complex data into practical, actionable insights for coaches and performance staff.
Explore applications ofAI and emerging technologieswithin performance intelligence.
Collaborate with internal and external partners on data capability, governance and innovation.




At Senior level, lead national strategic projects and develop data capability across the High Performance system.
What They're Looking For
Degree or higher qualification inData Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economicsor a related discipline.
Strong experience withSQL and Python.
Experience with platforms such asSnowflake or SQL Server.
Experience developing and evaluating statistical and machine-learning models.
Experience usingGitLab or GitHub.
Strong data visualisation and storytelling capability.
Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong collaboration and stakeholder-management skills.
Interest in or understanding ofhigh-performance sport.
For appointment at Senior level, experience leading data professionals and providing senior technical advice will be particularly relevant.
