Melbourne

Acquainted Talent is partnering with a long-established not-for-profit disability and community services provider to appoint an Occupational Health & Safety Advisor.
The organisation employs approximately 650 people across around 15 locations, delivering supported employment, home and living support, community participation and other disability services.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a broad OHS portfolio within an organisation where safety is closely connected to people, wellbeing and the quality of support provided.
The role
Based primarily in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, this permanent position will be worked across four days per week and involve regular travel to locations across Melbourne's eastern and northern suburbs.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be the organisation's dedicated OHS specialist within a broader multidisciplinary team.
The operating environment is varied, incorporating disability and community services alongside packaging, warehousing, forklift operations, horticulture, manual handling and client-support activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing practical OHS advice and support across multiple locations
Reviewing and improving OHS policies, procedures and systems
Supporting risk assessments, workplace inspections, audits and corrective actions
Investigating incidents, hazards and near misses and identifying emerging trends
Developing and implementing an organisation-wide Safety and Wellbeing Plan

Supporting psychosocial hazard identification, risk assessment and improvement initiatives
Coordinating Health and Safety Committees and supporting Health and Safety Representatives
About you
This position would suit a capable OHS professional who is ready to take ownership of a broad portfolio while remaining closely connected to operations.
You will ideally bring:
Formal qualifications in occupational health and safety
Approx three years' experience in an OHS advisory position
Broad experience across risk management, incident investigation, auditing and safety systems
Strong communication, relationship-building and influencing skills
The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
A practical, adaptable and people-focused approach to safety
Experience within disability services, community services, healthcare, aged care or another people-centred environment would be highly regarded. Exposure to warehousing, manufacturing, logistics, horticulture or similarly operational workplaces would also be valuable.
Why consider this opportunity?
Permanent position offering a genuine four-day working week
Broad and visible OHS portfolio with genuine ownership
Varied community services and operational environments
Chance to shape a consistent safety approach across a growing organisation
Purpose-led not-for-profit environment
Access to attractive salary-packaging benefits
