Consultant Anaesthetist

About the Role
As a Consultant Anaesthetist at LRH, you will play a key role in delivering high‐quality anaesthetic and perioperative care across a broad surgical caseload. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, intensivists, emergency clinicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, while contributing to the ongoing development of anaesthetic services within the organisation.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing anaesthetic services
across operating theatres, critical care, and procedural areas within your credentialed scope.
Pre‐operative assessment and peri‐operative management
of patients.
Clinical leadership and supervision
of junior medical staff, trainees, and nursing colleagues.
Ensuring effective integration
with key departments including ICU, Emergency, Surgical Services, and Patient Flow.
Active participation in audit, quality improvement, and departmental meetings.




Supporting LRH's strategic and service development priorities
, including innovation and expansion of perioperative services.
Contributing to research and education
within the department.
About You
You are a team-oriented, patient‐centred clinician who values integrity, respect, and high‐quality care. You bring strong communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Essential qualifications and experience:
FRCA, FANZCA, or equivalent specialist qualification
Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
Demonstrated senior‐level anaesthetic experience
Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and families
Commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement, and peer review
Ability to work harmoniously within a multidisciplinary team
