Lead culturally responsive mental health care and help shape better outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Use your advanced clinical expertise, cultural knowledge and leadership skills to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experiencing complex mental health and alcohol and other drug challenges.
As part of the Social, Emotional, Mental Wellbeing Team, you will provide advanced clinical leadership and specialist trauma-informed mental health care while supporting the delivery of culturally safe and responsive services across Townsville Hospital and Health Service.
Working collaboratively with Townsville Aboriginal and Islander Health Service (TAIHS), consumers, families and multidisciplinary teams, you will help strengthen access, equity and wellbeing outcomes.
This influential role combines advanced clinical practice, workforce leadership, service improvement and community partnership to strengthen access to care and advance health equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the region.

Requirements
Under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act ****, this is an identified position,



and applicants must be Indigenous to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
The successful applicant will bring the cultural capability, knowledge and lived experience required to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers, families, communities and stakeholders.
Applicants must possess one of the following:
Psychology:A four-year degree in Psychology (Honours or Graduate Diploma) from an accredited tertiary institution and registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Social Work:A tertiary degree (or equivalent) in Social Work from an accredited tertiary institution and eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
Occupational Therapy:A tertiary degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy from an accredited tertiary institution and registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
Highly regarded:
Postgraduate qualifications or advanced certification in trauma-focused therapies such as TF-CBT, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing or similar evidence-based approaches
Experience delivering mental health programmes within primary care, Aboriginal Community Controlled HealthServicesor the non-government sector
