Job Description
Acquainted Talent is partnering with a long-established not-for-profit disability and community services provider to appoint an Occupational Health & Safety Advisor.
n
The organisation employs approximately 650 people across around 15 locations, delivering supported employment, home and living support, community participation and other disability services.
n
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a broad OHS portfolio within an organisation where safety is closely connected to people, wellbeing and the quality of support provided.
n
The role
n
Based primarily in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, this permanent position will be worked across four days per week and involve regular travel to locations across Melbourne's eastern and northern suburbs.
n
Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be the organisation's dedicated OHS specialist within a broader multidisciplinary team.
n
The operating environment is varied, incorporating disability and community services alongside packaging, warehousing, forklift operations, horticulture, manual handling and client-support activities.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Providing practical OHS advice and support across multiple locations
n
Reviewing and improving OHS policies, procedures and systems
n
Supporting risk assessments, workplace inspections, audits and corrective actions
n
Investigating incidents, hazards and near misses and identifying emerging trends
n
Developing and implementing an organisation-wide Safety and Wellbeing Plan
n
Supporting psychosocial hazard identification, risk assessment and improvement initiatives
n
Coordinating Health and Safety Committees and supporting Health and Safety Representatives
n
n
About you
n
This position would suit a capable OHS professional who is ready to take ownership of a broad portfolio while remaining closely connected to operations.
n
You will ideally bring:
n
n
Formal qualifications in occupational health and safety
n
Approx three years' experience in an OHS advisory position
n
Broad experience across risk management, incident investigation, auditing and safety systems
n
Strong communication, relationship-building and influencing skills
n
The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
n
A practical, adaptable and people-focused approach to safety
n
n
Experience within disability services, community services, healthcare, aged care or another people-centred environment would be highly regarded. Exposure to warehousing, manufacturing, logistics, horticulture or similarly operational workplaces would also be valuable.
