Role Overview
n
n
Provide quality support and services to young people with a mental health issue who live in residential service.
n
Work collaboratively with young people in their recovery.
n
Provide support that is client-focused, community oriented, and sensitive.
n
Assist young people with mental health issues to develop and maintain relationships, which facilitate independence.
n
Assist young people with mental health issues to improve their daily living skills through guidance, supervision, and encouragement.
n
Mentor and act as role models for young people in building positive social skills, utilising effective conflict management and negotiation, and building healthy relationships.
n
Encourage and educate young people on healthy living habits to support their emotional wellbeing and the growth of self-esteem, self-worth,



and self-confidence.

Requirements
n
n
Minimum of Cert IV in Mental Health, Community Services or other related discipline (ideally a completed Diploma or Bachelors)
n
Experience in working with young people experiencing mental health issues
n
Demonstrated capacity to relate to young people, their families/carers, and other stakeholders with dignity and respect
n
Ability to assess risk and follow relevant protocols to manage crisis situations calmly and effectively
n
Demonstrated and effective listening and communication skills in both written and verbal formats.
n
Understanding of and commitment to the principles of duty of care, and rights to privacy and confidentiality
n
Ability to help program participants link in with other relevant community resources and to promote the rights, responsibilities and recovery of young people
n
Must be available for overnight shifts
n
Must be available to work a rotating 24/7 roster
n
Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a Blue Card
n
Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
n
Current Driver's license
n
