Job Description
You will join a growing copper mining operation in North Queensland, approximately 120km north-northwest of Mount Isa. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager - Mining, you will lead the delivery of surveying services across open cut mining operations, supporting safe, efficient and compliant production.

You will oversee survey control, production pickups, UAV surveys, set-outs, volume calculations, compliance monitoring, spatial data management and end-of-month reconciliation. You will also provide technical leadership to survey personnel and work closely with Technical Services, Operations, contractors and other site teams to achieve production objectives.

This role offers FIFO/DIDO options from Brisbane, Cairns or Townsville, with competitive hourly rates, superannuation paid on all hours and quality camp facilities.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Lead surveying activities across multiple open cut mining operations
n
Supervise, mentor and provide technical guidance to survey personnel
n
Establish and maintain survey control networks, benchmarks and datum systems
n
Complete survey pickups, set-outs and mark-ups for mining activities
n
Process UAV imagery, point clouds and survey data into accurate modelsComplete end-of-month surveys, reconciliations and volume calculations
n
Monitor mining activities against approved designs and report deviations
n
Provide survey support to engineers, geologists and production teams
n
Coordinate survey priorities across multiple mining areas
n
Maintain accurate as-built records, statutory plans and survey documentation
n

About you
n
n
Tertiary qualification in Surveying or equivalent
n
Proven experience as a Mine Surveyor in open cut mining
n
Proficiency with Deswik Spatial, Pix4D and Virtual Surveyor
n
Solid understanding of open pit mining and drill and blast support
n
Strong spatial data management and reporting capability
n
High attention to detail and commitment to survey accuracy
n
Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
n
Experience supervising or mentoring survey personnel is highly regarded
n
Current Manual Drivers Licence
n
