Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Company Accountant / Finance Officer to manage the day-to-day accounting and statutory reporting requirements of multiple companies. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will work independently and as part of a small team, taking the initiative to assist with a variety of accounting, finance and administrative tasks.

Key responsibilities

Manage the full accounting function for multiple companies using Xero.
n
Maintain accurate general ledgers, including bank reconciliations, journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
n
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and payment processing.
n
Complete month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting processes.
n
Prepare multi-entity accounts and group consolidation schedules, including intercompany reconciliations.
n
Prepare and lodge monthly, quarterly and annual BAS and other relevant statutory returns.
n
Manage PAYG withholding, payroll-related reporting and superannuation payment and reporting obligations.
n
Prepare and lodge taxable payments annual reports and other applicable payment and withholding reports.
n
Prepare financial information, reconciliations and supporting schedules for management reporting.
n
Liaise with external corporate auditors and coordinate audit information and supporting documentation.
n
Assist the Financial Controller with budgeting, reporting, compliance and other finance-related tasks as required.
n
Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure all reporting and lodgement deadlines are met.
n
Undertake other administrative duties from time to time as required.

Skills and experience
n
n
A minimum of five years' accounting experience, including responsibility for the accounts of multiple companies.
n
Advanced knowledge of and practical experience using Xero.
n
Demonstrated experience in multi-entity accounting and group consolidations.
n
Strong knowledge of BAS, PAYG withholding, superannuation and other Australian statutory reporting obligations.
n
Experience liaising with and supporting external corporate auditors.
n
Ability to manage competing deadlines and work accurately with minimal supervision.
n
Ability to work effectively in a small team and use initiative to take on multiple tasks and responsibilities.
n
Robust attention to detail, organisational skills and problem-solving ability.
n
Self-motivated, reliable and able to work independently.
n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
n
Experience in the construction or property development industry will be highly regarded.
