Job Description
Head of Lighting & Systems Technician
n

Salary Range: $83,****** - $88,****** per annum

Location: Cairns Performing Arts Centre
n

Play a key role in bringing performances, events and productions to life through expert technical delivery, innovative lighting design and exceptional venue support.
n
What we're looking for
n
n
At least five years' experience in a multi‐stage arts centre, production company or theatre environment.
n
Operational competency across audio, audio‐visual, rigging and general technical production.
n
Proven leadership and supervisory skills, with a strong understanding of WHS obligations.
n
Experience with ETC EOS, MA grand or Hog lighting systems, as well as CAD/Vectorworks and lighting visualisation tools.
n
Rigging certification, LR Class Driver Licence, First Aid/CPR, White Card, EWP (>11m) and Test & Tag certification (or ability to obtain).
n
Certificate III in Live Production Services and Certificate IV in Lice Production & Technical Services (or ability to obtain)
n
Strong customer service skills, a positive and team‐focused attitude, and the ability to work under pressure.
n

What you'll be doing
n
n
Lead all lighting and systems operations across CPAC, MMP and other Cultural Services venues.
n
Design, interpret and deliver lighting requirements for clients while managing resources and timelines effectively.
n
Operate and maintain lighting, audio, AV, staging and rigging systems to a high professional standard.
n
Develop standard lighting rigs and comprehensive technical documentation.
n
Oversee and deliver maintenance schedules for lighting, systems, staging, fly and rigging equipment.
n
Supervise casual technicians during bump‐in/out, performances, events and maintenance periods.
n
Work directly with clients, hirers, tour managers and performers to ensure seamless, safe and high‐quality event delivery.
n
Maintain backstage areas, support inductions, advise on set electrics, and act as Fire/Chief Warden when required.
n
