A little bit about you
You bring proven communications experience and a demonstrated ability to identify and shape stories that resonate. You're comfortable working across a broad range of formats and stakeholders and you know how to prioritise effectively when demands compete for your attention.
More specifically you will have:
4 to 6 years in communications for a large organisation
Writing that works everywhere: web, social, speeches, media
A journalist's nose for a good story and an understanding of how to get it up
The organisational chops to juggle five priorities without dropping one
Bonus points for experience in the not-for-profit or community sector, or a genuine interest in the issues facing people experiencing or at risk of homelessness
About the role
You'll be the person who turns what Vinnies Victoria does across 120+ shops, social housing, crisis accommodation, soup vans and major fundraising campaigns into stories people stop scrolling for and start acting on. You'll work with the Communications Manager to shape our voice and position in the community. You'll build and run our organisation-wide story bank, work media like a pro, and produce content for everyone and every channel, from the homepage to the CEO's next speech.
Key responsibilities
Hunting down and shaping stories of lived experience, with the care and consent process to match
Writing everything from executive speeches to newsletters to media pitches
Running point on media opportunities and reactive queries with our agency
Briefing video and design work and partnering with our Digital Marketing team to shape video and digital content that performs as well online as it reads on paper.
Monitoring and measuring the impact of our storytelling, advocacy, and awareness campaigns and getting creative to constantly improve how we do it.
Building relationships across Homelessness Services, Retail, Fundraising, Government Relations and more, so you're always first to know when something worth telling is happening
