About the Team
The Rostering Project is a strategic workforce transformation initiative focused on implementing UKG workforce management solutions across Peter Mac. The project brings together specialists from Payroll, People & Culture, Information Technology, Operations and external implementation partners to deliver a modern, sustainable and compliant rostering and timekeeping platform.
About the Role
The Senior Test Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of the Peter Mac Rostering Project. Reporting to the Senior Test Lead, you will support the project testing function through detailed test analysis, test preparation, test execution, defect management and evidence capture. You will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, payroll subject matter experts and UKG consultants to validate complex rostering, timekeeping, award interpretation and workforce management processes. Your work will ensure requirements are thoroughly tested and delivered with quality, accuracy and confidence.
A regular day will see you:
Analysing business requirements, UKG configuration and award rules to develop comprehensive test scenarios and test cases
Executing system, integration, regression and end-to-end testing activities
Validating payroll-impacting scenarios including overtime, penalties, allowances, leave and public holiday rules
Managing defects, evidence and test execution through project testing tools and collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues

You are an experienced testing professional with strong workforce management and payroll systems knowledge. You enjoy investigating complex business scenarios, identifying risks and working collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve high-quality outcomes. You bring a disciplined and analytical approach to testing, while maintaining a practical and solutions-focused mindset in a fast-paced project environment.

Demonstrated hands-on experience testing UKG/Kronos workforce management solutions
Experience validating awards, enterprise agreements and payroll-related business rules
Strong test analysis, test design, test execution and defect management capabilities
Experience using testing tools such as JIRA, Zephyr, HP ALM or equivalent

Position Summary




The purpose of this role is to support the Project Delivery testing function of the Peter Mac Rostering Project (UKG) to ensure quality project delivery outcomes through high-quality test analysis, test preparation, test execution, defect management and test evidence capture. The objectives of this role are to:
Analyse business requirements, UKG configuration, awards rules and integration mappings to define clear test scenarios, test cases and expected outcomes.
Execute system testing, system integration testing, regression testing, end-to-end testing and UAT support testing across UKG rostering, timekeeping and related workforce management processes.
Validate awards, enterprise agreement and payroll-impacting scenarios in UKG, including ordinary time, overtime, allowances, penalties, breaks, leave, public holidays and exception handling.
Use JIRA, Zephyr, HP ALM or agreed test tools to maintain test cases, execution status, evidence, defects and traceability.
Work with the Senior Test Lead, Business Analysts, Payroll SMEs, P&C; representatives, technical teams, integration teams and vendors to clarify requirements, triage defects and support test completion.
Identify risks, gaps and blockers early and provide clear updates to support project decision-making.

Skills
Relevant tertiary qualification or industry certification, or equivalent practical experience in software testing, workforce management, HR, payroll or enterprise systems.
Mandatory hands-on experience testing UKG / Kronos workforce management solutions, including rostering, timekeeping, employee data, configuration outcomes and operational workflows.
Mandatory experience with awards, enterprise agreement or payroll rule testing, including ordinary time, overtime, allowances, penalties, breaks, leave, public holidays and exception handling.
Required experience using test tools such as JIRA, Zephyr, HP ALM or equivalent for test case management, execution tracking, evidence capture, defect management and reporting.
ISTQB Foundation or equivalent testing certification is preferred.
Good-to-have experience supporting UKG integration testing, including inbound and outbound data flows, file/API validation, mapping, transformation, reconciliation and error handling.
Strong test analysis, test design, test execution, regression testing, retesting and defect management experience across system, integration and end-to-end testing phases.
Ability to translate business requirements, awards rules, UKG configuration and integration mappings into clear, traceable and executable test scenarios.
Ability to prepare test data, validate calculations, reconcile source and target outputs, and provide clear evidence for pass/fail decisions.
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to investigate defects, separate configuration issues from data or integration issues, and explain findings clearly.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work directly with business SMEs, technical teams, vendors and project stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and discipline in maintaining test artefacts, evidence, traceability and defect records.
Agile testing or advanced testing certification is beneficial but not mandatory
Key Accountabilities




Customer Service
Provide hands-on testing support and clear guidance to business users, SMEs and project stakeholders to assist them in achieving project testing outcomes.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with key customers, suppliers and stakeholders to support workable business and technical solutions.
Support business testers during UAT by explaining scenarios, expected outcomes, evidence requirements and defect logging standards.
Ensure Effective Testing Processes are in place
Apply the agreed test process, test standards and evidence requirements consistently across assigned test activities.
Maintain test cases, execution status, evidence, defects and traceability in JIRA, Zephyr or the agreed project tooling.
Identify requirement gaps, missing expected results, unclear awards rules, data issues and environmental blockers early.
Initiate and Support Key Initiatives that add value
Identify opportunities to improve test scenarios, test coverage, test data, evidence capture, defect quality and regression capability.
Reuse and refine test assets so they remain helpful for future releases, regression cycles and operational support.
Contribute practical testing input to improve project quality, business readiness and support outcomes.
Test Analysis and Execution
Review business requirements, process designs, UKG configuration information, awards rules and integration mapping documents.
Prepare clear, traceable and executable test scenarios and test cases for UKG rostering, timekeeping and related workforce management processes.
Execute assigned system, regression, end-to-end and UAT support tests; capture accurate evidence; retest resolved defects and complete targeted regression testing.
UKG and awards validation
Validate UKG / Kronos configuration outcomes against awards, enterprise agreement rules and Peter Mac operational scenarios.
Test ordinary hours, overtime, allowances, penalties, breaks, leave, public holidays and exception handling using positive, negative and edge-case scenarios.
Compare expected and actual outcomes and explain variances clearly to Payroll SMEs, P&C; representatives, UKG consultants and the project team.
Integration testing support
Support validation of UKG data flows with connected systems, including employee data, roster data, time records, pay-impacting outputs and downstream payroll-related outcomes.
Check files, field mappings, transformation outcomes, control totals, rejected records and error handling where applicable.
Work with technical and integration teams to investigate interface failures, data mismatches and timing issues.
Collaborate for success
Work cooperatively with business, technical and vendor teams while maintaining testing discipline and evidence-based decisions.
Tailor communication to the situation and needs of the team.
Escalate quality, scope, test data, environment or stakeholder blockers early through the Senior Test Lead or agreed project pathway.
Achieve Results
Own assigned test activities and keep test records current, accurate and complete.
Raise clear, complete and reproducible defects with steps to reproduce, expected result, actual result, evidence, severity, priority and business impact.
Focus on achieving test outcomes using good judgement, timely follow-through and practical issue resolution
