Job DescriptionPermanent, Part Time – 16 hours per week Fitzroy locationPreferred working days Monday and Friday, with flexibility to negotiate.About the RoleAn exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Surgical Liaison Nurse to join the Neurosurgery and Planned Surgery team at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne.
In this specialised nursing role, you will coordinate and manage the care of Neurosurgery patients throughout their planned surgery journey, helping to ensure timely access to surgery and a smooth transition through the healthcare system.
You will be primarily responsible for managing the Neurosurgery Planned Surgery waiting list in accordance with relevant policies and Department of Health requirements.
Working closely with surgical teams and other key stakeholders, you will coordinate patient care, streamline the elective admission process and support initiatives aimed at reducing surgical wait times and length of stay.
This role would suit an experienced acute surgical nurse with solid organisational and communication skills who enjoys coordinating care and working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and case manage Neurosurgery patients throughout their planned surgery journeyManage the Neurosurgery Planned Surgery waiting list in accordance with relevant policies and proceduresWork closely with surgical teams and other stakeholders to support appropriate and timely patient managementMonitor planned surgery cancellations and coordinate appropriate patient follow-upMonitor Category 1 patients to support treatment within the required 30-day timeframeManage Category 2 and Category 3 patients to support treatment within Department of Health designated timeframesSupport an efficient elective admission process and timely progression of patients to surgeryContribute to initiatives that improve patient flow,

The team works in accordance with the Planned Surgery waiting list policy and Department of Health requirements to support timely and equitable access to surgery.
