Senior DevOps Engineer (Cloud/DevSecOps)Paxus is partnering with a large Federal Government program to engage an experienced Senior DevOps / Cloud Engineer to help modernise and operate critical cloud platforms and DevSecOps capabilities supporting enterprise data and analytics environments.Contract detailsContract duration: To 30 June **** + Up to 2 x 12 monthsLocation: Canberra (ACT)Working arrangement: Hybrid – on-site full time for the first month (or until across the ICT landscape), then minimum 2 days/week on-site in CanberraSecurity: Baseline clearanceThe opportunityYou'll work closely with delivery teams to provide and support secure, scalable environments that enable fast, reliable delivery through automation, self-service, and strong DevSecOps practices.
The work spans Azure and hybrid cloud platforms, with a strong focus on infrastructure as code, CI/CD, cloud security controls, and operational excellence (monitoring, resilience, cost optimisation).
Key responsibilitiesDesign, build and support secure, scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure and platform servicesBuild and maintain Azure and hybrid cloud environments aligned to standardsDevelop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or equivalent)Design/implement/support CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments (app + infrastructure)Embed DevSecOps controls across the delivery lifecycle (security, compliance, quality)Cloud networking, IAM, encryption, monitoring/logging/observabilityOptimise availability, performance,



resilience and cost efficiencyTroubleshoot complex infrastructure/deployment/operations issuesImplement and remediate security controls aligned to Australian Government security requirements (ISM/PSPF)Vulnerability management, patching, dependency updates, technical debt reductionBackup/DR/BCP supportParticipate in design reviews, architecture governance and technical assuranceProvide technical leadership/mentoring and contribute to documentation and knowledge transferWhat we're looking forEssential experienceSenior DevOps / Cloud Engineering experience in Azure and hybrid environmentsStrong IaC skills (Terraform/Bicep/ARM or similar)Strong CI/CD engineering capability and automation mindsetProven delivery of secure-by-design cloud solutions (DevSecOps)Experience with monitoring/observability, incident/problem resolution, and operational support (runbooks, documentation)Ability to work on-site in Canberra as per the hybrid requirementsDesirablePrior Federal Government / regulated environment experienceHands-on experience with DR testing and recovery proceduresFamiliarity with enterprise data/analytics platforms (data platforms context)Application requirements (important)Candidates must provide a one-page pitch addressing the selection criteria (up to 5,000 characters).
