About youThe role demands someone with patience to support First Nations staff and facilitate programs to increase financial independence.
A lot of individual support is offered to staff with housing applications, tax (end of year/PAYG), government programs, bank/credit unions etc.
The role would suit someone who has worked in government services, NFP/charitable or social support organisations, who have a strong understanding of personal financial matters.
Qualifications or Certificate in financial counselling would be advantageous.About the roleThis is a part time role to work Monday - Thursday to promote and support the financial independence of families working within Children's Ground.
A considerable determinant of wellbeing is financial independence.
Many families that Children's Ground work with experience poverty and associated issues such as poor health outcomes, poor housing, overcrowding, intergenerational trauma, and high stress.
Addressing economic insecurity through employment is one way of addressing these issues.This role works to increase awareness of resources for financial management and the importance of staying out of debt, setting up savings strategies and household budgeting.
This is a long-term approach to greater economic agency and security across the community.
Working to reduce financial stress positively impacts wellbeing for individuals, families and communities.The role demands strong people skills and successful candidate will need to have a current Driver's License.Key ResponsibilitiesFacilitate programs so that participants can increase their understanding of financial systems,



services and rights to reduce financial stress and worryEngage employees in formal financial literacy training (both external and internal)Provide individual support to persons with poor literacy and financial understandingWork closely with the Workforce Development Coordinator and People & Culture Coordinator to ensure staff workplace documentation is in placeWork closely with local First Nations peopleSupport communities with food security initiativesDevelop trusting and respectful relationships with people in the regionMonitoring and evaluation - ensuring records and data collection is reported into Children's Ground systemsAssistance to First Nations staff with weekly timesheet entriesAssistance to First Nations staff with internal IT systems, phonesEssential/Key Selection CriteriaQualifications, certificates, professional membership or experience requiredExperience working within First Nations familiesStrong people skills – teamwork, communicationAbility to work in a versatile team environmentCurrent Driver's LicenceWillingness to undergo a National Police Check and obtain an NT OCHRE Working with Children CheckWhat we offerSalary Classification: Children's Ground EBA Level 5.1 $106,892 + 12% superannuation + bonus leaveSalary Sacrifice options to increase take home pay (dependant on individual circumstances)A collaborative, purpose driven organisation contributing to First Nations led systems changeThe preferred candidate will be required to undertake relevant pre-employment checks, including a National Police Check and Working with Children Clearance (NT).
