About the role

Are you practical, mechanically minded and ready to start a hands-on trade career?

We are looking for a motivated Hydraulic Technician Apprentice to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to complete a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade while gaining hands-on experience in hydraulics, mechanical repairs, workshop operations and FIFO site work. Working alongside experienced tradespeople in our Perth workshop and on FIFO sites, you will develop the practical skills needed to build a successful career as a qualified Hydraulic Technician or Mechanical Fitter.

Key responsibilities

- Assisting qualified Hydraulic Technicians and Mechanical Fitters with day-to-day workshop and site work.

- Carrying out general trade assistant duties as directed.

- Assisting with the strip-down, inspection, repair and reassembly of hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, valves and other components.

- Helping assemble, test, repair and fit hydraulic hoses, fittings and associated equipment.

- Cleaning, preparing and organising components before repair, assembly or testing.

- Assisting with hydraulic equipment servicing, preventative maintenance and breakdown work.

- Learning how to identify faults and assist with troubleshooting hydraulic-system issues.

- Loading, unloading, packing and preparing tools, parts and equipment for workshop and FIFO work.

- Maintaining workshop cleanliness, including housekeeping, waste disposal and keeping work areas safe and organised.

- Using hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment safely under supervision.

About you

- A genuine interest in mechanical work, hydraulics, engineering or mobile equipment.

- A willingness and ability to work FIFO as part of the apprenticeship.





- A strong work ethic, reliable attendance and a positive attitude.

- The ability to take direction, learn quickly and ask questions.

- Good attention to detail and a commitment to doing work properly.

- A strong focus on safety.

- The ability to work well within a close-knit team.

- The ability to meet site requirements, including pre-employment medical and drug-and-alcohol screening where required.
