Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and presentation of gardens, lawns and outdoor areas across the facility. You will play an important role in ensuring our gardens and grounds are maintained to the highest standard, contributing to the wellbeing, enjoyment and quality of life of our residents.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain gardens, lawns, hedges, trees and landscaped areas
- Plant, prune, weed and mulch garden beds
- Operate and maintain gardening equipment safely
- Mow, edge and maintain lawns and pathways
- Monitor irrigation systems and watering schedules
- Remove garden waste and keep outdoor areas tidy
- Identify and report maintenance and safety issues
- Ensure outdoor areas remain secure, accessible and aesthetically pleasing
- Support infection prevention and workplace health and safety requirements
About you
- Previous experience in gardening, horticulture, grounds maintenance or a similar role
- Knowledge of plant care, pruning techniques and garden maintenance
- Ability to operate gardening equipment safely and effectively
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine commitment to providing quality services within an aged care environment
- Desirable: Certificate II or III in Horticulture or related qualification
- Desirable: Experience working in aged care, healthcare, education or community settings
- Desirable: Knowledge of safe chemical handling and pest management
