The Company

Founded in Europe in 1971, this globally recognised equipment OEM has built an exceptional reputation for delivering highly specialised equipment and technical solutions to customers around the world.

With more than 25 years of operations in Australia, the business has historically maintained a relatively low profile, supported by outstanding technical expertise and significant resources from its overseas operations.

That is now changing.

The organisation is entering an exciting new phase of growth and investment across Australia. With a clear strategy to significantly expand its local capability, the business is investing heavily in its workshop, field service, aftermarket support, parts and sales operations.

This is where you come in.

The Opportunity

Due to continued growth and an ambitious expansion strategy, the business is now seeking an experienced and commercially minded National Service Manager to take ownership of the Australian Service and Aftermarket operation.

The company has a strong presence within the waste and recycling industry, supporting some of Australia's largest organisations, including Remondis, Bingo, SUEZ, Cleanaway, Wanless and Soilco, among many others.

The General Manager is looking for someone who can ultimately take full ownership of the department — someone with the technical knowledge, leadership capability, discipline and commercial mindset required to build a high-performing national Service and Aftermarket operation.

This is not simply a role managing an existing team.

This is an opportunity to build, develop and grow the Service Department during the next major stage of the company's Australian expansion.

There will be significant challenges, exciting changes and major opportunities ahead.

The business is currently exploring the possibility of relocating its entire operation to a new facility, potentially including a newly equipped and purpose-built Service Department, improved logistics for equipment transport and deliveries, a better organised Parts operation and properly designed workstations.

However, this role is not about waiting for the perfect facility or situation.

The successful candidate must be solution-focused, hands-on and commercially minded, with the ability to work closely alongside the General Manager to improve the current operation while helping plan and develop the future.

You will need to make the best of what is currently available, identify opportunities for improvement and implement practical solutions that support the continued growth of the business.

This will be a challenging role — but also an incredibly rewarding one.

There will be existing staff, established ways of working and individuals who may be resistant to change. The business needs someone who understands that growth and improvement require change — and who has the leadership ability to bring people with them while also having the confidence to make difficult decisions when required.

The company is looking for a positive, proactive and highly accountable leader who can bring new ideas, challenge existing processes and take genuine ownership of the Service Department.

You will have the confidence to stand up, take control and create the structure, accountability and direction required to build a stronger national Aftermarket operation.

If you enjoy solving problems, building teams, improving operations and taking on a genuine challenge, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact on the future of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

- Leading, mentoring and developing Service Technicians, Apprentices and Support Staff across the operation.

- Managing the day-to-day performance of Workshop and Field Service teams.

- Overseeing the servicing and repair of heavy mobile equipment.

- Providing technical leadership and support for complex diagnostics and major equipment repairs.

- Managing key customer relationships and providing regular communication regarding repairs, maintenance and machine downtime.

- Handling customer concerns and resolving Service-related issues professionally and efficiently.

- Monitoring and improving key performance indicators including labour recovery, utilisation,

efficiency, revenue and profitability.

- Managing departmental budgets, costs, revenue and overall Service Department performance.

- Preparing and approving repair quotations, estimates and major work orders.

- Working closely with Parts, Sales and the factory to minimise equipment downtime and improve customer support.

- Managing warranty repairs, claims and manufacturer reporting requirements.

- Ensuring compliance with WHS, safety, environmental and company policies.

- Identifying opportunities to grow Service and Aftermarket revenue through maintenance contracts, preventative maintenance programs and improved customer support.

- Driving the integration and growth of the Service, Parts and Aftermarket divisions nationally.

Candidate Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

- A minimum of 5+ years' experience in Service Management or a senior Service Leadership position.

- A relevant trade qualification in Heavy Diesel, Mobile Plant or Heavy Equipment.

- Strong experience within the Earthmoving, Construction Equipment, Waste & Recycling industries.

- Proven experience managing and developing Service Technicians, Apprentices and Workshop teams.

- Experience implementing new processes, improving systems and driving operational change.

- A positive and proactive leadership style, with the ability to bring teams along during periods of change.

- A strong and stable employment history demonstrating commitment and career progression.

- The ambition and capability to build and develop a high-performing national Service and Aftermarket operation.
