About the role
As an Associate Engineer – OSS Cloud Automation, you’ll support the delivery, governance and operational management of Cloud and Automation capability across Optus’s Operational Support System (OSS) environment.
This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career technology professional to build practical expertise in cloud infrastructure, automation workflows, orchestration and OSS integration across cloud and on-premise environments. With mentorship from Senior Technical Specialists, you’ll contribute to platform delivery programs, develop your technical capability and build a foundation for a career in OSS engineering and platform management.
What You’ll Do
- Support Cloud and Automation platform delivery and operations, including configuration, testing, deployment, quality assurance and documentation.
- Contribute to capability roadmap activities through research, technology evaluation, vendor assessments, business case support and capability gap analysis.
- Assist with stakeholder and vendor coordination, including meeting preparation, action tracking and follow-up across engineering and operations teams.
- Support platform-quality and operational activities, including validation, automation reviews, configuration checks, reporting and service support.
- Analyse platform data and operational metrics, interpret dashboards and prepare reports that support evidence-based decision-making.
- Work with Cloud, Automation and broader OSS teams to build domain knowledge and contribute to training, technical forums, communities of practice and continuous improvement.
What makes you perfect for the role?
- A degree in Telecommunications, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- A recent graduate or up to three years’ experience in telecommunications,
engineering, technology or a related field.
- Foundational understanding of cloud and automation concepts, including cloud infrastructure, virtual machines, containers, orchestration, scripting and infrastructure automation.
- An interest in developing hands-on expertise in technologies such as GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Python and CI/CD toolchains.
- Basic understanding of platform operations, configuration quality, deployment accuracy and automation reliability across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Robust analytical, communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills, with curiosity, adaptability and a commitment to continuous learning.
