Durack Civil is a leading civil construction contractor delivering projects throughout Queensland, Recent South Wales and the Northern Territory. With a growing fleet of modern equipment and a strong pipeline of work, we are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to take ownership of our plant division and drive operational excellence across the business.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for maximising fleet utilisation, managing compliance and maintenance systems, supporting project delivery teams, and building a high-performing plant culture.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of Durack Civil's plant fleet, operators, subcontractor plant and supporting systems. You will work closely with project teams to ensure the right equipment is available, compliant, cost-effective and ready to perform when required. [Plant Manager | Word]

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage all aspects of plant operations across the business

- Oversee fleet maintenance, servicing schedules and asset lifecycle planning

- Drive plant utilisation and monitor fleet performance across projects

- Manage plant procurement, disposals and capital expenditure recommendations

- Coordinate plant logistics, mobilisation and demobilisation activities

- Negotiate plant hire arrangements and supplier agreements

- Oversee subcontractor plant onboarding and compliance requirements

- Develop and improve plant tracking, servicing and maintenance systems





- Conduct plant audits and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company standards

- Lead operator onboarding, inductions and competency management processes

- Support tender submissions through plant planning and pricing input

- Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement

- Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations and transport requirements.

About You

To be successful, you will have:

- Significant experience managing plant and equipment within the civil construction industry

- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of plant costing and utilisation

- Demonstrated experience managing large fleets and maintenance programs

- Knowledge of CoR requirements, heavy vehicle legislation and plant compliance

- Strong leadership and people management skills

- Excellent planning, organisational and negotiation abilities

- Experience implementing and improving operational systems and processes

- A practical, solutions-focused approach with a willingness to be involved at ground level.
