Specialist Radiologist Opportunity | BreastScreen NSW | Wagga & Queanbeyan

An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Radiologist to join the BreastScreen NSW service across the Murrumbidgee and Southern NSW Local Health Districts. This Visiting Medical Officer position provides an prospect to contribute to a high-performing multidisciplinary team delivering breast cancer screening, assessment and diagnostic services at the Wagga Wagga and Queanbeyan BreastScreen sites.

About the Role

The BreastScreen Radiologist is responsible for the provision of radiological services relating to screen reading and assessment clinic services at BreastScreen NSW Murrumbidgee and Southern NSW Local Health Districts, located in Wagga Wagga and Queanbeyan. The successful applicant will work closely with the Designated Radiologist, Clinical Coordinator, Consultant Surgeon and Pathologist to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to client care and maintain compliance with the National Accreditation Standards of BreastScreen Australia.

Key Responsibilities

- Participate in quality assurance activities as part of the BreastScreen program.




- Perform breast screening image reading and interpretation services.
- Provide assessment clinic services, including diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Perform stereotactic and ultrasound-guided breast biopsies.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary BreastScreen team to maintain high-quality screening and assessment services.
- Participate in accreditation activities and support compliance with National Accreditation Standards.
- Attend Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and Clinical Advisory, Review and Education (CARE) meetings.
- Contribute to ongoing professional development and education activities as required under BreastScreen Australia standards.

Essential Requirements

- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Radiologists.
- Current Medical Board registration with AHPRA.
- Current NSW EPA Radiation Licence.
- NSW Working With Children Check.
- National Criminal Record Check.
- Compliance with NSW Health Category A vaccination requirements.

Selection Criteria

1. Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.
2. Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner, Practicing Licence from the Radiation Protection Authority
3. Experience in screening mammography reading, diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound and image-guided interventional procedures for the breast
4. Excellent knowledge of technical quality assurance
5. Well-developed knowledge of the BreastScreen Australia Program and an understanding of the National Accreditation Standards
6. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
7. Demonstrated ability to implement clinical best practice accordance with evidence based practice.
