About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchenhand to join the team at TBBQ Pty Ltd in Fitzroy, VIC. This is a part time position that plays a vital role in supporting our kitchen operations. As a Kitchenhand, you will be the backbone of our culinary team, ensuring our kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently whilst maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. Your contribution will directly impact the quality of service we deliver to our customers and the overall success of our establishment.

Key responsibilities

- Preparing and organising ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables and proteins

- Maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment by washing dishes, utensils, pots and pans throughout service

- Assisting chefs and cooks with food preparation tasks as directed

- Managing kitchen waste and recycling in compliance with health and safety regulations

- Monitoring and restocking kitchen supplies, pantry items and cleaning materials

- Operating kitchen equipment such as dishwashers and food preparation machinery in accordance with safety procedures

- Supporting food storage and inventory management, including proper labelling and rotation of ingredients

- Assisting with basic food preparation and plating as required by the kitchen team

- Maintaining communication with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow during service

- Adhering to all health, safety and food hygiene standards at all times

What we're looking for

- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen or hospitality environment is highly desirable,



though not essential for motivated individuals

- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards, or willingness to obtain relevant certifications

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organisation in a busy kitchen

- Ability to work efficiently and effectively both independently and as part of a team

- Physical capability to perform manual tasks, including standing for extended periods and lifting moderate weights

- Reliability and punctuality, with the flexibility to work part-time hours as required

- Positive attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to learn

- Basic communication skills and ability to take direction from senior kitchen staff

- A valid Working with Children Check (if required by state legislation) and right to work in Australia
