Senior software engineers in Sydney with extensive experience in designing, building, and scaling high-performance backend systems in a cloud-native environment.

This role is ideal for individuals with strong expertise in microservices architecture, distributed systems, and event driven design, along with a passion for innovation, including emerging technologies such as AI integration. Package includes visa and relocation.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development & Architecture

- Design and develop scalable, resilient microservices using modern frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot)

- Build and maintain event-driven systems leveraging streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, ksqlDB)

- Develop and support high-throughput, real-time processing services

- Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of backend systems

Cloud & Platform Engineering

- Deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes (EKS) and AWS cloud environments

- Work with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes

- Handle deployments, scaling, and monitoring of distributed systems

System Integration & Data Engineering

- Design and optimize database schemas and integrations (PostgreSQL, Redis)

- Build data pipelines and event ingestion services

- Integrate messaging systems such as Kafka and cloud-based event services

DevOps, Monitoring & Security

- Implement observability and logging solutions (e.g., Splunk)

- Manage secure application configurations using tools like HashiCorp Vault





- Perform incident response and root cause analysis for production issues

Innovation & AI Integration

- Contribute to initiatives involving AI-powered applications, such as chatbot solutions

- Explore recent technologies to enhance automation, system intelligence, and business value

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

- 6+ years of experience in software engineering or backend development

- Strong proficiency in:

- Java (Spring Boot)

- Microservices and distributed systems

- Event-driven architecture

- Hands-on experience with:

- AWS and Kubernetes (EKS)

- Kafka or similar streaming platforms

- PostgreSQL or other relational databases

- Experience with containerization (Docker) and cloud-native development

Preferred

- Experience in financial services or high-availability systems

- Familiarity with distributed workflow tools (e.g., Netflix Conductor, Apache Flink)

- Exposure to AI/ML integration or chatbot development

- Knowledge of database migration tools (Liquibase)

- Experience working in Agile environments
