About the role
To provide day-to-day Support to clients with challenging behaviours and ensure that a safe, comfortable, personalised environment is offered in which clients are able to develop their skills, abilities & aspirations through the Individual Lifestyle Planning processes.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and carry out all office administration including Data collection, filing, Booking and scheduling appointments and general administration
- Maintain a clean and secure workspace, and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures
- Schedule and coordinate meetings and drop-in visits with clients
- Assess the needs of clients and craft appropriate care plans in FlowLogic
- Complete daily shift notes and data logs as required by organisation
- Emotionally support clients by engaging in conversations and actively listening to their concerns
- Help with the client's domestic tasks, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and shopping including where required personal care
- Accompany clients to meetings with other healthcare facilities or agencies
- Work with the families of clients to educate them about proper support for the client
- Collaborate with other support workers to exchange advice and best practices
About you
- Qualifications in Mental Health / Behavioural / Social Sciences / Homlessness / Drug and Alcohol or related field, minimum of Certificate IV Community Services (Services Coordination) or relevant experience
- First aid certificate
- Knowledge of the 6 disability standards and requirements in the support work field
- Service-oriented with a passion for helping people
- Solid interpersonal communication skills, with an emphasis on active listening
- Ability to build strong relationships and gain trust
- Empathetic approach, a non-judgmental attitude, and a willingness to be patient
- Physical ability to complete domestic duties
- 2+ years of experience in a support worker role or equivalent
- Current Black, Silver or Gold NSW Driver's Licence
