Bidgerdii Community Health Services is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service. We have proudly supported the Rockhampton and wider Central Queensland region for more than 30 years.

Lead the Way in Indigenous Health

- This role provides an opportunity for an experienced primary health care or general practice RN to bring their existing clinical skills into Aboriginal Community Controlled Health while developing further experience in ARF and RHD care and program delivery.
- We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our primary health care nursing team and take responsibility for the RHD portfolio.
- This is a varied clinic-based role combining general practice nursing, preventative health, chronic disease care, immunisation and support of the ARF and RHD program across our Rockhampton, Mount Morgan and Blackwater services.
- The role would suit an RN with recent general practice or primary health care experience who is confident working independently, completing clinical assessments, identifying, and escalating abnormal findings, coordinating follow up and working closely with GPs and the broader clinical team.

Key Competencies & Essential Requirements:

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse

• At least two years recent experience working in general practice, primary health care or a similar clinical setting

• Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to recognise normal and abnormal findings,



escalate concerns appropriately and coordinate follow up

• Current competency and recent experience in venepuncture and pathology collection

• A current recognised immunisation qualification with recent experience independently assessing and vaccinating patients

• Good knowledge of vaccine management and cold chain requirements, including the National Vaccine Storage Guidelines, Strive for 5.

• Experience in chronic disease management including care planning, reviews, care coordination, recalls and patient follow up

• Experience undertaking comprehensive health assessments, ideally including 715 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Assessments

• Good understanding of ARF and RHD, including the importance of secondary prophylaxis, Bicillin, recalls and ongoing patient follow up

• Strong clinical documentation skills and experience using electronic clinical records

• Ability to manage recalls and follow up care within a general practice or primary health care setting

• Ability to review, interpret and consolidate clinical data to support reporting on clinical activities and program outcomes

• An understanding of health promotion, preventative health and appropriate health messaging, with confidence supporting patient and community health education

• Ability to work independently while also working closely with GPs, nurses,



Aboriginal Health Workers and the broader multidisciplinary team

• Current open C Class Driver Licence with the ability to travel across Bidgerdii sites and attend community activities when required

• Ability to do Overnight stays – at locations.

Highly regarded

• Previous experience working within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service

• Direct experience working with an ARF or RHD program

• Experience using Best Practice clinical software

• Experience with RHD registers, program reporting or funded clinical portfolios
