Systems Specialist - Requirements Development Lead

Position Overview

An opportunity is available for an experienced Systems Specialist - Requirements Development Lead to support the delivery of a major aviation capability within a complex government environment.

Working with limited supervision, you will lead requirements development across aircraft platforms, simulators, training solutions and Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) training systems. The role will work closely with project teams, subject matter experts, operators, delivery partners and senior stakeholders to develop clear, traceable requirements and support successful capability outcomes.

This position will particularly suit an experienced systems engineering or capability development skilled with strong requirements development, technical writing and stakeholder engagement skills, ideally gained within aviation or complex acquisition programs.

Key Duties

- Lead requirements development across aircraft platforms, simulators, training solutions and LVC training systems.
- Develop high-quality, traceable Function and Performance Specifications (FPS) and supporting artefacts.




- Apply strategic guidance to the development and delivery of complex aviation capability.
- Populate and maintain requirements within systems engineering databases.
- Draft ASDEFCON Data Item Descriptions (DIDs).
- Engage with operators, subject matter experts, delivery agents and stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
- Represent the relevant capability area at project forums and stakeholder meetings.
- Participate in commercial and acquisition activities.
- Evaluate and report on tenders and contribute to vendor requirements reviews.
- Identify and manage capability risks and assist in resolving complex project issues.
- Prepare and present written and verbal reports to committees and boards.
- Share technical knowledge and requirements expertise across the broader project team.

Skills and Experience Required

- Active NV1 security clearance is essential.
- Strong analytical capability and the ability to work through complex technical requirements.
- Demonstrated experience developing clear, structured and traceable requirements and specifications.
- High-level technical and professional writing skills.
- Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
