Senior Management Accountant

Location: Sunshine Coast, QLD | Full-time

We are seeking a Senior Management Accountant to join a high-performing finance team within a large and complex public-sector organisation. This is an chance to step into a strategic finance role where you'll work closely with senior leaders, provide trusted financial advice, and help shape sound financial decision-making across a diverse organisation.

The Opportunity
n
As a Senior Management Accountant, you will play a key role in financial planning, budgeting, reporting and business analysis, partnering with stakeholders to support effective financial management and organisational performance.
n
Depending on your area of focus, the role may have responsibility across operating budgets, capital budgets, long-term financial modelling and costing analysis — or a combination of these areas.
n
You'll work closely with management and finance leadership to provide meaningful insights, challenge assumptions and translate financial information into practical business decisions.
n
What you'll be doing
n
n
- Coordinate and contribute to the annual budgeting and budget review process, including preparation of submissions for senior leadership.
n
- Provide high-level financial advice on budget allocations, financial performance, job costing and long-term financial modelling.
n
- Produce and analyse monthly financial performance reports, identifying trends, variances and opportunities for improvement.
n
- Partner with business areas to understand their operations,
financial requirements and performance drivers.
n
- Provide accounting and business analysis support across directorates, branches and management teams.
n
- Develop and maintain processes to monitor the financial performance of operational and capital projects.
n
- Contribute to the development and improvement of financial policies, procedures and processes.
n
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and provide clear, commercially focused financial advice.
n

What we're looking for
n
We're looking for an experienced finance professional who can combine strong technical accounting capability with commercial thinking, stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
n
You'll ideally bring:
n
n
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
n
- At least 5 years' experience in a Management Accountant role within a large organisation.
n
- Demonstrated experience preparing financial reports in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
n
- Strong capability in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and providing high-level financial advice.
n
- Experience working with integrated financial systems, databases and advanced spreadsheet applications.
n
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
n
- A collaborative approach and the ability to influence, consult and build strong working relationships.
n
- A current C class driver's licence.
n
n
Membership of a relevant professional accounting association will be highly regarded.
n
