Job Description
Mechanical Engineering — AI Trainer
n
We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need mechanical engineers to make it happen. This is a unique opportunity to apply your deep domain knowledge in a brand-new way: stress-testing advanced AI on the hardest problems in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and beyond.
n
If you've ever wanted to shape how AI thinks about engineering, this is your chance.
n
n
- Organization: Alignerr
n
- Type: Hourly Contract
n
- Location: Remote
n
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

n
What You'll Do
n
n
- Design Complex Engineering Problems — Craft advanced, multi-step challenges across domains like FEA (Finite Element Analysis), heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and mechatronics to push AI to its limits.
n
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning — clear, accurate, and built to engineering standards.
n
- Audit AI Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic derivations, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with standards such as ASME and ISO.
n
- Refine AI Thinking — Identify and document logical errors in AI reasoning — from incorrect force distributions to energy conservation violations — and provide structured feedback that directly improves model performance.
n
n
Who You Are
n
n
- Advanced degree (Master's pursuing or completed, or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
n
- Strong domain knowledge in one or more of: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
n
- Analytical communicator — able to translate complex physical phenomena into clear, precise written explanations
n
- Detail-oriented — rigorous when checking mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
n
- No prior AI experience required — your engineering expertise is what matters
n
n
Nice to Have
n
n
- Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or technical review workflows
n
- Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
n
- Background in research, academia, or technical writing
n
n
Why Join Us
n
n
- Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects alongside world-class research teams
n
- Fully remote and versatile — work on your own schedule, as much or as little as fits your life
n
- Freelance autonomy with meaningful, intellectually stimulating work
n
- Contribute to AI development that will shape the future of engineering and science
n
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
