- Lead rigorous analysis to provide strategic insights to teams across Shell Energy Trading Australia
- Model supply/demand dynamics, deal pricing, portfolio optimisation, and competitor analysis across relevant markets and asset classes
- Maintain a continuous improvement mindset for analysis and modelling approaches
- Actively participate in assurance activities
- Lead long-term power and gas market studies internally and with external consultants
- Suggest improvements to modelling techniques
- Analyse power and gas market data to synthesise insights
- Develop models and tools to support business decision-making
- Create data products that can be visualised and shared broadly, including with senior stakeholders
- Critically assess and provide input on work by various teams
- Provide broader assurance of modelling approaches for deal pricing and investment decisions
- Collaborate with team members, support senior members, and mentor junior members
- Act as focal point for the analytics community of practice
- Coordinate and liaise with Spot Trading, Forward Trading & Origination, Gas Origination, Economics, Strategy & Portfolio Development, and Upstream Gas teams

Requirements

- Experience in the Energy and Gas Wholesale sector required
- Extensive experience modelling and analysing the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM) and east coast gas markets across spot trading, forward trading, and asset development horizons
- High familiarity with Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) market data
- Prior experience with revenue modelling of various assets, including energy economics, commercial considerations, and physical attributes
- Experience supporting a business development or trading business




- Superior analysis skills
- High proficiency and experience in programming languages; Python and SQL preferred
- Experience in mathematical modelling
- Experience in Databricks and PowerBI advantageous
- Superior visualization, communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Capacity to deal with complex, multidimensional, and ambiguous issues
- Self-starting, independent, and proactive approach
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Mandatory online assessment after application submission
