About us

The Southern Migrant and Refugee Centre (SMRC) is a not-for-profit community-based agency providing services to migrants and refugees living in the southern region of Melbourne, including the local government areas of City of Greater Dandenong, City of Casey, Shire of Cardinia, and surrounding suburbs. Since 1993, SMRC has supported the settlement of newly arrived refugees and provided community-based services for migrants and refugees through funded in-language social, economic, health and wellbeing programs.

SMRC provides a wide range of aged care services, ensuring that older community members have access to care and support that is culturally sensitive, and in-language where required.

SMRC operates a multicultural labour hire service, which provides a culturally sensitive and in-language alternative to in-home care.

The vision of SMRC is to ensure that migrants and refugees are enabled to achieve their goals and aspirations. We exist to support and empower migrants and refugees through our delivery of programs and services that are innovative, inclusive, and impactful.

The Position

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Service Planning and Coordination to lead the growth and development of our Diverse Care program. This is an exciting opportunity to drive service innovation and make a real impact in culturally diverse communities.

The Manager,



Service Planning and Coordination is responsible for leading and overseeing the planning, coordination, and delivery functions of the organisation’s community-based care services. The role will include oversight of the organisation’s provision of brokered aged care and disability support services across Melbourne’s southeast via our on-demand labour hire service.

This role will address social, economic, and environmental challenges through innovative and sustainable programs and business practices that will deliver strong commercial outcomes through programs and services that are aligned with organisational goals, regulatory requirements, and community needs, fostering high-quality and client-centred care.

Person Specification

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Health Administration, Public Health, Business or related field.

Proven experience in aged care workforce and compliance standards is essential to this role.

Proven experience (5+ years) in senior leadership, business development or strategic management.

Background in aged care, community services, business management, or labour hire.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in service planning, case management or community care coordination.

Strong business acumen to develop and grow sustainable social enterprise.
