Yaandina Community Services, situated in Roebourne for over 40 years, is the largest provider of community services in the Pilbara. Yaandina has a comprehensive suite of services that include: Youth and Family programs, Community and Aged Care services and Drug & Alcohol services. About The Role
The Family Support Worker provides practical, emotional and intensive support to children, individuals and families who may be experiencing challenges. Working within a culturally safe and person-centred framework, you will support families to build resilience, strengthen parenting capacity, improve household stability and achieve positive outcomes.
Reporting to the Family Support Coordinator, you will work closely with local families, community members and partner agencies to ensure people receive the support and services they need.
Duties Include But Not Limited To
- Provide practical, social and emotional support to families within the community.
- Deliver parenting and life skills programs that promote family wellbeing and early childhood development.
- Assist individuals and families to access services through referrals and advocacy.
- Support the provision of Emergency Relief services.
- Maintain accurate case notes, client records and reporting requirements.
- Identify and respond appropriately to safety and wellbeing risks.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external service providers to achieve positive outcomes for families.
- Contribute to a culturally safe and supportive environment for First Nations families and communities
About you:
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities.
- Robust interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- An understanding of trauma-informed practice.
- The ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Professional boundaries, sound judgement and a commitment to confidentiality.
- Experience working in regional, rural or remote communities will be highly regarded.
Requirements Of The Role
- Current National Police Clearance.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current C Class Driver's Licence.
- First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Certificate III in Community Services, Human Services or a related discipline is desirable.
Hours of work:
This is a full-time position. Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm. Flexibility to meet operational requirements may be required.
