Rowing Australia are recruiting a Data Scientist / Senior Data Scientist to lead and evolve their performance intelligence capability, applying data science, analytics and technology directly within an Olympic and Paralympic high-performance environment.

n

Embedded within Rowing Australia's Daily Performance Environment, the successful candidate will develop the data systems, analytics and decision-support tools used to inform athlete and crew performance.

n

Working alongside coaches, sport science, sports medicine and performance staff, the role will translate complex datasets into practical insights while helping shape the organisation's wider High Performance Data Strategy.

n

Appointment at Senior Data Scientist level will include additional responsibility for strategic projects, partnerships, technical leadership and capability development.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

- Lead the development of Rowing Australia's High Performance Data Strategy.
n
- Design and improve data systems, pipelines, dashboards and reporting tools.
n
- Develop advanced analytics, statistical models and machine-learning solutions.
n
- Lead athlete and crew performance analysis, benchmarking and predictive modelling.
n
- Translate complex data into practical, actionable insights for coaches and performance staff.
n
- Explore applications of AI and emerging technologies within performance intelligence.
n
- Collaborate with internal and external partners on data capability,



governance and innovation.
n
- At Senior level, lead national strategic projects and develop data capability across the High Performance system.
n

What They're Looking For

n

n
- Degree or higher qualification in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics or a related discipline.
n
- Strong experience with SQL and Python.
n
- Experience with platforms such as Snowflake or SQL Server.
n
- Experience developing and evaluating statistical and machine-learning models.
n
- Experience using GitLab or GitHub.
n
- Strong data visualisation and storytelling capability.
n
- Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
n
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder-management skills.
n
- Interest in or understanding of high-performance sport.
n

For appointment at Senior level, experience leading data professionals and providing senior technical advice will be particularly relevant.

n
