About the role

We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop modular, readable and robust code for defence systems adhering to security and functional requirements in C++ and other embedded programming languages.

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

- Develop modular, readable and robust code for defence systems adhering to security and functional requirements in C++ and other embedded programming languages.
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, systems design, agile development, review, test-driven development, integration, and verification.




- Presenting design details during design reviews to a mix of participants with and without software engineering knowledge.
- Collaborate effectively with both software and other engineering disciplines as well as management, to ensure comprehensive coverage of requirements as efficiently as possible.
- Write and maintain both internal and deliverable documentation.
- Provide Engineering support to manufacturing as required.
- Participate in internal and external demonstration activities for the purpose of sharing knowledge.
- Maintain a continuous improvement mindset.

What you’ll bring

The role requires the following experience and skills:

- An active Commonwealth Security Clearance
- Degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar.
- 4+ years’ experience in similar role.
Ability to read and review schematics, and work collaboratively with hardware engineers on designs.
- Experience in developing software for microcontrollers in C++ on bare metal or with RTOS.
- Working with low level communication interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN etc.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team, adhering to development processes.

Desirable Requirements

- Experience in developing firmware in VHDL and/or Verilog for FPGAs.
- Experience in using and building software for embedded Linux.
