About the opportunity:
The Maintenance Officer will report to the Service Manager and will be responsible for on-going repairs and preventative maintenance of building, plant, equipment, gardening and furniture. You will also assist with identifying and actioning health and safety issues to provide a safe environment for residents, staff and visitors. The main purpose of this role is to ensure the safety and upkeep of the Aged Care Facility by undertaking a variety of maintenance tasks in a timely and highly competent manner.
- Responsible for on-going repairs and preventative maintenance of building, plant, equipment and furniture.
- Maintain gardens, lawns, and landscaped areas to a high standard, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming outdoor environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
- Perform routine gardening duties including mowing, pruning, planting, weeding, mulching, fertilising, and irrigation maintenance.
- Liasing with contractors
- Identifying and reporting areas for improvement
- Assist with identifying and actioning health and safety issues to provide a safe environment for residents, staff and visitors.

- Experience in managing contractors and maitaining environmentally friendly garden practices aligned with organisational sustainability goals

- The ability to nurture friendly,
respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Previous maintenance experience - Trade background/qualifications preferred but not essential.
- Previous experience in Aged Care or hotel environment would be advantageous
- Ability to work independently and as part of the local team
- Proficient computer skills, prior experience working with a computer based maintenance system will be advantageous
- Working knowledge of Work Health and Safety standards and regulatory maintenance frameworks relating to residential aged care.
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
- A current Police Record Check
- Trade based qualification or more than 3 years' experience in a commercial maintenance position.
- Current driver's licence.
