About The Role And Where You Will Be Working

Muswellbrook Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Service (AMIHS) supports Aboriginal families across the Upper Hunter and operates Monday to Friday. The team is based at Muswellbrook Hospital, with clinics also held in Singleton. The service works both on-site and remotely, with home visits available when required.

As an Aboriginal Health Worker with Muswellbrook AMIHS, you will support Aboriginal mothers, babies and families throughout the antenatal and postnatal journey. You will work closely with the AMIHS Midwife and team to provide culturally safe, respectful and family-centred care, while building strong connections with families and the local community.

The role is community-focused and may involve supporting families to attend appointments, participating in community activities and providing outreach and home visits when required. A willingness to travel and drive as part of the role is essential.

About You

We are looking for a culturally sensitive, community-focused and compassionate Aboriginal Health Worker who is passionate about supporting Aboriginal mothers, babies and families.

The successful candidate will work closely under the direction and supervision of the AMIHS Midwife, with regular team meetings and catch-ups with local and District AMIHS management.





You will be a robust team player with excellent communication skills, a genuine commitment to culturally safe care, and a willingness to build positive relationships with families and the community. A willingness to travel and drive when required to support mums and families to attend appointments is essential.

Requirements

Hold or aspire to hold a minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a minimum Certificate III health qualification in the area of care in which the Aboriginal Health Worker works.
