In the role of Senior Physiotherapist (Acute Surgery) you will provide optimal evidence-based physiotherapy to patients at the Royal Hobart Hospital and Physiotherapy Service. In this role you will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary setting across clinical areas to deliver evidence driven patient centred care. Clinical areas include general surgery, surgical specialties, cardiothoracic surgery, in reach and support of critical care and supporting the team in the areas of trauma and neurosurgery.

As a member of the physiotherapy service, you will contribute to a culture of learning and foster leadership and innovation.

The Role

As a Senior Physiotherapist, you will provide and coordinate high-quality physiotherapy services within the acute care setting, working collaboratively with patients, carers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based care. You will undertake comprehensive assessment, treatment planning and intervention for patients across surgery and critical care and support service delivery that promotes positive patient outcomes and continuity of care.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, you will contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, research activities and the implementation of best-practice physiotherapy services. The role also provides professional leadership through the supervision, education and support of physiotherapists, allied health assistants, students and other healthcare staff, while contributing to a culture of safety, continuous improvement and excellence in patient care.

You will need

- Significant physiotherapy experience, including demonstrated knowledge of contemporary assessment, treatment and intervention practices relevant to the clinical area.
- The ability to supervise, mentor and educate health professionals, students and support staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,



with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and build productive professional relationships.
- Experience contributing to quality improvement activities, service development, policy development and/or research initiatives.
- The ability to analyse service needs and assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of physiotherapy services.
- A sound understanding of the legal, ethical and qualified considerations relevant to contemporary public health services.

Details of appointment

Permanent, full time, day worker (with on-call) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

$117,272 to $126,182 per annum + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2025

- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
- Registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
