Engineering Manager (Money Flows)
Location: Sydney Office (Hybrid: 4 days office / 1 day WFH)

About The Role
The Engineering team at Ebury is looking for an Engineering Manager to play a pivotal role in evolving our core transactional platform. In this position, you will shape the technical direction of your domain, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet our customers' needs. You will foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within your team while driving continuous improvement and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
Domain Ownership: Own a domain/subdomain, setting the 0–6 month technical roadmap.
Architecture: Work with senior engineers to ensure architectural consistency across services.
System Health: Accountable for the reliability, availability, and security of our systems.
Operational Readiness: Ensure all systems have appropriate support, SLAs, on-call rotas, and documentation.
Delivery Management
Execution & Velocity: Responsible for team delivery, planning sprints, and overseeing overall project health.
Work Prioritization: Assess the criticality of unplanned work to minimize context-switching and unnecessary pressure.
Capacity Planning: Balance team capacity effectively with roadmap demands while instilling urgency to balance velocity and quality.
Incident Ownership: Ensure all platform incidents are fully owned and resolved efficiently.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Product Partnership: Act as the primary liaison between engineering and product, partnering with your product counterpart to ensure full alignment.
Communication: Communicate progress transparently and elevate issues effectively.
People Management
Team Leadership: Lead a team of engineers across varying levels, creating group stability and a culture of ownership and feedback.
Talent Development: Provide coaching, regular performance reviews, and clear career pathing.
Performance & Well-being: Manage performance and team well-being, initiating corrective actions when needed.
Hiring & Retention: Demonstrate the ability to hire, grow, and retain high-performing engineering talent.
Process & Performance
KPI Accountability: Accountable for team-level success and KPIs (velocity, quality, on-time delivery, morale, and staffing).
