About the Role

n

The Friends' School is seeking enthusiastic and proactive Teaching Assistants to support the delivery of Health and Physical Education, Outdoor Education, and Sports programs for students in Years 7–12.

n

This role will work closely with classroom teachers and faculty staff to provide high-quality learning support across a range of settings, from classrooms and sports fields to outdoor education environments.

n

This is an ongoing Part Time position and days of work are flexible, depending on the needs of the faculty.

n

Key Focus Areas

n

n
- Promote and uphold the School's commitment to child safety, ensuring any safeguarding concerns are reported through the appropriate channels.
n
- Support teachers in the planning and delivery of HPE, Outdoor Education, and Co-curricular Sports programs.
n




- Assist with the preparation and organisation of resources and equipment for each class or activity, ensuring safety and readiness.
n
- Provide supervision and support for students during classroom lessons, outdoor activities, excursions, and sporting events.
n
- Undertake safe transport of students and staff to and from off-site activities as required.
n
- Contribute to safety planning, including routine equipment checks and the development of Risk Assessments.
n
- Support teachers in implementing classroom behaviour and safety agreements and providing first aid when necessary.
n
- Assist in administrative and operational tasks as requested by teachers, and occasionally mentor new assistants or trainees.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

n

n
- Commitment to The Friends' School's Purpose & Concerns and to creating a positive, inclusive learning environment.
n
- An understanding of the 10 National Child Protected Standards and the ability to foster a culture of safety and respect for young people.
n
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
n
- Demonstrated capacity to support teachers in practical, classroom, and outdoor learning environments.
n
- Current First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
n
- Current manual driver's licence, with the ability and confidence to drive school vehicles and transport students safely.
n
- Demonstrated understanding of safety protocols and risk management in physical education and outdoor education contexts.
n
- Current Working with Vulnerable People (Employment) registration and a National Police Check (issued within the past six months).
